Sonus Faber - Liuto

The name of this new speaker is rich in meaning and values from the history of Sonus faber. It inherits and yet redefines the characteristics of the Cremona series, starting with the famous shape of the cabinet. A rare combination of high-level technical solutions, graceful design and use of innovative materials is also a testament to Sonus Faber manufacturing skills.

Liuto is the result of meticulous fine-tuning during long, painstaking listening sessions, supported by accurate instrumental testing.

Its characteristics ensure powerful sound, rich in undertones and capable of arousing real emotion without losing coherence and tonal balance. It is an ensemble of musical qualities that will enthuse listeners every time

Sonus Faber - Monitor

The most authentic expression of a two-way loudspeaker system that delivers faithful, natural, defined reproduction.
Fine-tuning “by ear” has produced a filter network that respects the criteria of maximum circuit simplicity and purity, in line with the tradition laid down by the historic Sonus faber mini-loudspeakers. At the same time it highlights the meticulous restyling of this new project.

The Monitor provides a highly evocative performance of coherence, tonal fidelity and overall musicality that lets the listener “forget” the laws of physics. Performance by speakers in this category reaches a new standard of excellence.

Sonus Faber - Auditor M

The suffix "M" indicates a project for the optimization of the little two-way unit with the application of new technologies already introduced and tested with Elipsa.

Auditor "M" embodies the Sonus faber tradition in the field of compact loudspeakers, making use of top-quality components and a minimal crossover network. Auditor M employs a gentle 6dB per octave roll off in order to create a refined sound, a musicality of unquestionable charm.

Sonus Faber - Cremona M

Cremona M, (M = modified) is a loudspeaker that builds forward the recognized technological value of Elipsa in order to achieve new levels of performance in sound reproduction. State of the art components – with particular reference to the midrange made of wood fiber – combined with a cross-over network that remains faithful to the principle of maximum simplicity, allows this loudspeaker to express itself with great speed, transparency, naturalness and with control of low frequencies.

This allows it to be installed in small rooms as well as large.
An unquestionable timbric balance places Cremona M to the top levels of music reproduction.

KEF - C Series - C5
Elegant, articulate and authoritative the C5 is a competent and compact floorstander. It combines the latest 19mm (0.75in.) tweeter and ‘tangerine’ waveguide with two 130mm (5.25in.) bass drivers in a slim, internally braced cabinet. Meticulously tuned crossovers ensure seamless transitions and dual binding posts allow bi-wiring or bi-amplification for the best possible response right across the frequency range. Whatever the genre, whatever the medium, the resulting sonic picture is open, fluent and involving.

KEF - Q Series- iQ50
A compact, yet powerful floorstander, the iQ50 shares the exceptionally wide, even dispersion that characterizes the range, together with KEF’s legendary build quality.
The 19mm tweeter, identical to the larger models, is built into the 130mm version of KEF’s latest Uni-Q high frequency/midrange array.

Coupled with a new lightweight dual composite long-throw bass driver of the same size in a two and a half way configuration the new iQ50 is an accomplished performer assatellites in a 5.1 package or as a dedicated two channel system. With the inherent sweetness that makes good music sound greatthe iQ50 represents outstanding value for those who take sound seriously.

Castle loudspeakers - Richmond 3i
Once the physicist Ernst Mach had successfully measured and defined the speed of sound, he was free to relax, perhaps to spend more time with the family. Thanks to our policy of continuous product development, Castle's team of sound engineers spend most of their working lives surrounded by relatives; faster, louder, heavier, cleaner, stronger, and so on, any and all of which can be key parameters in producing improved performance from our acclaimed range of loudspeakers.

Ever since Castle was founded, over thirty years ago, the Richmond has been the entry level model which has defined the Castle sound. Over the years much has changed both in the ways we live our lives and the music we listen too, but one factor has remained constant, the quality of the Richmond. As far back as the eighties its reputation for quality at an affordable price was recognised by the press with Hi Fi Choice giving the then current Richmond a "Best Buy" rating in 1981.

Today's Richmond 3i is no different, it still offers exceptional sound quality in an attractive cabinet and at an affordable price, and in November 2004 that fact was recognised once again by Hi Fi Choice when they gave the Richmond 3i the accolade of a "Best Buy" rating. Hi Fi Choice have not been alone in their praise of the Richmond 3i, Hi Fi News made the it their budget speaker of the year in 2005 and in that same year at the Hi Fi + Awards the Richmond 3i was again awarded top status. So how has all this been achieved by such a small company? The simple answer is attention to detail, added to an all consuming love of music.

The Richmond 3i is a Castle product in ways few of the competition can claim, not only do Castle build all their own cabinets, in a choice of eight alternative natural wood veneers, but the two drive units are also of their design and manufacture. In this way the company can optimise the performance of all the components to create a sum greater than the parts. Each Richmond 3i cabinet is built using 15mm MDF board using balanced veneers and then damped using heavy bitumous pads, as we want your cabinet to look good but not contribute to the sound as so many cheaper cabinets tend to do. The tweeter designed by Castle uses a 19mm soft dome with both good top end extension and excellent dispersion characterises.

The bass unit is again Castle's own design, this unit uses a 110mm woven carbon fibre cone housed in a cast chassis, for improved performance and rigidity allied to a carefully designed magnet system to maximise performance. These two units are fed via a bi - wireable terminal housing to a quality multi element crossover which ensures the full capabilities of the drive units are fully realised. Whether your choice of music is Classical, Jazz or more modern the Richmond 3i will bring you the most from your record collection that any small speaker can. Added to which Castle's commitment to customer service will ensure years of happy years of listening.

Castle loudspeakers - Howard S3
Not so much a refinement of the Howard S2, but a total reworking of an old and trusted favourite, the Castle Howard S3 features a slightly more compact cabinet than the earlier model, with a twin-pipe internal design similar to the Harlech. Its two 150mm woven carbon fibre coned bass units, one forward firing, the other vertical, are tuned to different frequencies to give tremendous depth of bass, down to 32Hz, and room filling imagery.

The bass units share features found within other models in the Classic Range namely, the shaped pole piece for improved dynamics, the copper coated aluminium voice coil wire for reduced moving mass and CasWire internal wiring for greater transparency. Additionally, the Howard S3 has a hard-wired crossover featuring top quality ICW capacitors and WBT terminals for the most secure connection possible to speaker cables.

As with all Castle loudspeakers, the Howard S3 is available in a choice of eight real wood veneers, each one hand finished by craftsmen to the highest standard.

Castle loudspeakers - Knight 3
The Knight series was designed and manufactured using drive units and components built in-house, from the ground up - only possible because of our world-class research and development.

In most loudspeaker designs, room modes are easily excited by forward or rear-firing reflex ports, which can cause resonance and a resulting 'boom' at particular bass frequencies. Whilst giving an impression of an impressive bass response, this boom frequency masks all others making bass indistinct and slow.

Castle loudspeakers - Knight 5
Detail and neutrality are of utmost importance when building a loudspeaker, an evident characteristic shown throughout the design and construction of the Knight series.

Using a rigid yet light mixed-fibre cone material in the bass driver makes it fast enough to track the most complex score and its unique 'TPT' (Twin-Pipe Technology) transforms the performance of all its floorstanding speaker models, using the internal volume of the cabinet to extend the bass response without using unruly reflex ports. Adorned with the highest quality genuine wood veneer, the Knight series offers more than just a taste of high-end luxury.

Dali - Mentor Series
The MENTOR Series is a direct descendant of the Euphonia, Helicon and the IKON® Series when speaking about the most recent DALI speakers.

In the MENTOR Series, a lot of know-how and engineering have gone into the design and development of the proprietary drivers.

The MENTOR Series is developed, designed, hand-built, assembled and individually tested at the DALI factory in Denmark.

The MENTOR Series doesl feature a full line-up for both stereo and surround sound. The cabinets design are typical Scandinavian with strict lines, curved front/rear and furniture grade real wood veneer.

Definitive Technology - Mythos ST Super Tower
The Mythos ST SuperTower, which has already been awarded the coveted 2007 CES Innovations Award for Design and Engineering Excellence, begins with a sleek and sexy polished black or silver aluminum monocoque cabinet mounted on a beautiful polished granite base. It contains extremely advanced Definitive components and technologies that have been engineered to deliver sonic performance truly in a class by itself. The Mythos’ trend setting concept of form and function has dramatically evolved and goes considerably further in the ST through the incorporation of high power built-in SuperCube subwoofers right into the sleek aluminum cabinets.

The Mythos STs can be combined with their matching center channel speaker (Mythos Eight) and surrounds (Mythos Gem XLs) for an exceptional surround system that, although not inexpensive, offers unmatched value.
Jamo - R909 REFERENCE STANDARD AUDIOPHILE LOUDSPEAKER
If ever there was an example of out of the box thinking (literally!) this is it. An ingenious floorstanding dipolar design that dispenses with a conventional loudspeaker cabinet, this radical new loudspeaker - conceived by Jamo’s respected chief acoustic engineer Henrik Mortensen - is set to change the face of the high-end loudspeaker market.

Fitted with two 380mm (15in) woofers, a 150mm (5.5in) midrange and a customised 25mm (1in) Scanspeak Revelator tweeter, the three-way R 909 employs a 43mm thick baffle with a complex 7-layer laquered multi-ply construction, a testament to this Danish company’s immense experience with traditional woodworking skills.

The huge, newly developed bass drivers employ high quality open magnesium baskets plus lightweight paper cones with a polyurethane suspension. Paper cones may not be fashionable in some circles but they start/stop moving incredibly quickly and can reach very deep.

Jamo also had to design a new midrange driver to fulfil the R 909 brief. Employing a patented Neodymium magnet arrangement, this unit uses a magnesium cone for its stiffness and low weight, both vital qualities for dynamic response. The result is a cone that can deliver output up to 9kHz without sonic break-up, a recipe for an amazingly transparent reproduction of vocals.

Beyond those frequencies it’s the turn of the Scanspeak tweeter to take over.

This incredible unit features a textile dome that’s coated several times, along with low-distortion Symmetric Drive Technology. A double-damped chamber behind the magnet system is equipped with an anti-resonator plug to eliminate turbulence.

Such is the quality of construction here that there’s no need to resort to ferro-fluid to damp unwanted resonances… quite an achievement!

The end result? We’ll keep it short… an exceptionally firm bass, with immense transient speed, precision and fluidity displayed throughout the frequency range.

Coloration and reverberation? There is none… it’s as simple as that.

Put on some good music, close your eyes and you’ll forget that there’s a loudspeaker there. You’ll be listening to the music, not the hardware… that’s our promise.
The Reference R 909 is a true statement product from one of the world’s premier loudspeaker manufacturers. We invite you to experience music as it should be heard…

Martin Logan - Voyage...Ultimate-Performance In-Wall
The world's most sophisticated and elegant architectural loudspeaker, Voyage sounds so clean and dynamic, you'd think it were a superb standalone design. Not surprising, since it borrows so much from our own, including Advanced Thin Film drivers and high-resolution woofers. A rigid aluminum chassis and die-cast mounting locks enhance performance and ease installation, while an adjustable tweeter-alignment sphere, paintable end caps, and a selection of grille colors provide incredible adaptability.

SPENDOR - S3/5R
The “mini monitor” has an illustrious history. The mini monitor concept achieved its real apotheosis with the arrival of the BBC LS3/5a in the 1970’s. That design was an immediate success, and stayed in production with minimal changes for around 20 years- far far longer than any normal commercial speaker design.

Continuing healthy demand for the speaker has persuaded companies like Spendor to create variations on a similar theme, while incorporating two decades of loudspeaker engineering improvements.

To quote HI-FI Choice magazine,” Smooth, even unfailingly polite. That’s always been a characteristic of the very best Spendor loudspeakers and the S3/5R is definitely no exception.

This isn’t the speaker for those who like their music seriously loud or heavy. But when it comes to delivering most kinds of music at typical domestic listening levels, the S3/5R has a number of qualities that set it ahead of the pack. Few loudspeakers of any size or price can match its smoothness, its laid back neutrality, or the precision of its stereo imaging. Boxiness is pretty well controlled and colouration is limited to mild hollowness”

Come in and let us demonstrate how good this little beauty is!

Naim Audio - NaimUniti

On demonstration for the first time at the Bristol Sound and Vision show February 20-22, and on sale from April 2009, the Naim Uniti – the more music box – will deliver the customary Naim sound quality and emotional connection to music to a new generation of customers as well as existing ones. Naim developed the Naim Uniti in recognition of a growing demand for integrated solutions. Sophisticated consumers are becoming used to converging audio sources but can be reluctant to compromise on quality. Now they don’t have to.

The Naim Uniti is the first all-in-one audio player to offer so many sources: CD, FM/DAB, Internet Radio, MP3/iPod, Digital Audio Music Streams and USB: making it the most music box. NaimUniti’s Internet Radio player takes Internet Radio (iRadio) seriously, it’s not the afterthought that internet radio so often appears to be. It offers the listener a wealth of musical options, thousands of stations – narrowcasting at its finest – now easily accessible from a Hi-Fi component and available in Naim-quality sound. Also key is NaimUniti’s digital audio music streaming capabilities. Naim Uniti can wirelessly stream music stored on UPnPTM networked devices, providing access to even more music. With its onboard DAC, Naim Uniti becomes the ultimate audio source hub, able to interface with digital audio sources, such as computers and gaming consoles and the latest TVs. Naim Uniti has a front panel USB port for playback of music stored on USB memory sticks and suitable mp3 players. Naim Uniti will take over control, and display content stored on most mp3 players connected via its front panel USB port.

NaimUniti’s CD swing drawer and transport suspension are as used on the award-winning CDX2, as is the magnetic disc clamp; a low inertia, resonance-controlling device that ensures both rigid coupling and mild damping without adding to the task of the drive servo mechanism by increasing rotational inertia. This allows the Philips’ sourced VAM1202/12 transport to deliver a performance considerably in advance of what it could if used in a conventional tray mechanism. Naim Uniti is the first Naim player to utilise the new, more rigid, beam-strength mounting of the swing drawer on the front panel supported by the base.

Naim Uniti includes a FM/DAB tuner for those stations that have yet to move to dual- or triple-casting. Tuner presets are transparent to source. Preset one for example can be FM, DAB or Internet Radio. The optional n-Link, Naim’s custom designed iPod connector, cable allows the Naim Uniti user to connect and charge their iPod through the NaimUniti’s dedicated rear panel iPod input. Connecting an iPod to Naim Uniti via the n-Link also enables iPod control and display of music content via the Naim Uniti front panel. Also known as Naim Uniti
