Arcam were the first in the world to introduce the concept of an outboard DAC and were very successful in the late 80's and early 90's and with the advent of the PC and external music storage once again the need for a quality external DAC is paramount.
The R-DAC comes in a clean design die-cast case with both SPDIF co-axial and optical inputs. It supports a USB input. There are many different USB devices and supported music servers on the market and with quality in mind, the Arcam unit uses; Asynchronous Transfer Protocol, whereby the master clock on the R-DAC calls off the data from the PC or device when needed, ensuring accurate signal reproduction. When decoded with the onboard Wolfson 96kHz/24bit DAC and high quality audio stage the resulting quality of sound is second to none.
Many devices on the market do not use this method, thereby decoding signals with high jitter and data error resulting in poor sound.

We have just received our first unit and will be discovering the rDAC potential in the coming weeks; having sold the Black Box One back in the day we are expecting greatness!
The Arcam rDAC will be $599.00 each |

Metz

They’re back! After a little while off the Australian market, the world’s best TV’s are back. Metz new range of LCD screens are genuinely the first LCD screen we have seen that are better than the best of the plasma screens that were on the market until recently and way ahead of any other LCD screen we have ever seen. Their picture must be seen to be believed.
With a built in PVR with a 250Gb hard drive and twin HD tuners you never need to miss a TV show again.
The other amazing feature that places these TV’s above any other on the market is the sound quality of the speakers in the unit. They rival some of the HI FI
speakers we have heard in the past- Excellent for using as a centre speaker in a surround sound system if there is no room for a centre speaker.
The list of features goes on for Metz, but only with a demonstration in store will you be able to fully comprehend the advantages a Metz screen has to offer.
The other things we love about Metz- Made by Metz and Made in Germany for over 70 years! |

And now for another speaker solution- KEF
'Of all art, music is the most indefinable and the most expressive, the most insubstantial and the most immediate, the most transitory and the most imperishable. Transformed to a dance of electrons along a wire, its ghost lives on.
When KEF returns music to its rightful habituation, your ears and mind, they aim to do so in the most natural way they can … without drama, without exaggeration, without artifice’ - Raymond Cooke, KEF founder
The company was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke MBE (1925–1995) and was initially headquartered in a Nissan Hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry (from where the name KEF is derived) – a metal-working company on the banks of the River Medway, near Maidstone in Kent. Cooke, an ex-BBC Electrical Engineer, was keen to experiment with new materials and technologies in order to create products with superior acoustic quality that could reproduce recordings as natural as the original performance. From the very beginning, the pioneering inventiveness of KEF loudspeakers was undeniable and now for several decades, audiophiles around the world have revered KEF for its innovative, high-performance loudspeakers.
Featured Product: C Series & Q Series

With the introduction of the Viso Two and Viso Five DVD/CD Receivers, NAD now offers the level of performance associated with its highly acclaimed full-size separates in an elegant, compact design. Designed to complement today’s advanced video displays, its graceful proportions and fine details make a sophisticated design statement. And unlike most other “all-in-one” systems, the NAD performs like an award winning NAD separate component. NAD has not made any performance compromises in their quest for convenience and style.
The units come with NAD’s HTR7 remote control that has the ability to learn the codes of up to 8 different devices, thus eliminating the clutter of multiple remotes.
All we need to do is add two or five speakers to give you cinema quality sound in any room of your home. The NAD allows complete freedom to choose speakers that fit your décor and suite your taste in sound.
Their compact dimensions make them great for apartments, yet there is no compromise when it comes to performance.

Pauline R. Kezer once said, "Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights."
...And that’s exactly what Acoustic Images is set on achieving.
It is official! As of 15th May 2008 Audio Video Excellence has changed its name to Acoustic Images, or should I say, back to Acoustic Images. Many of you will recognise that name from many years ago when we started in 1993 in a little shop in Glenferrie Road, Malvern. Since then, in 1999 we merged with another company, changed our name to Audio Video Excellence and moved to our much larger present location in Mt.Waverley. Now it is time for another re-vamp of the business. We have changed our name back to Acoustic Images. We are in the middle of renovating the shop. We are going to stock a lot more new and exciting ranges of audio and visual products and speakers. We will continue to offer exceptional service. We will keep offering a range of high quality equipment. You will continue to see the same friendly faces, Andrew, John and Anthony are still here to share their knowledge and expertise with you.
We will have a broader range of better-equipped showrooms and auditioning rooms for you.
Some new two channel or stereo brands already in stock include CD players and amplifiers from Astin Trew from England, and CD players and amplifiers from Ayre Acoustics from the USA.
We now have Lexicon receivers from the USA for an addition to our home cinema range of products.
As far as speakers go we now have the full range of Ikon, Mentor and Helicon speakers from DALI. We haven’t seen a speaker brand with as many awards as DALI (well maybe they are rivaled by Definitive Technology), which we also stock. Speaking of Definitive Technology, we also have their new range of Mythos speakers. All these new products look stunning as well as being class leaders in performance.
Also now that our new dynamic website is up and running, please do not forget to regularly visit our News and Announcements page as we are planning some exciting events for you to take part in and also visit our Specials page. You never know what you may find! |
